Basilica di S. Pietro in Ciel D'Oro, for information: http://santagostinopavia.wordpress.com/
The Romanesque Church, refurbished in the 12th century, is well-known all over Europe for Saint Augustines remains, which in the 8th century were transfered here from Sardinia in obedience to the Lombard King Liutprandos will. The Kings tombstone is also visible. In the presbythery the magnificent and imposing marble Arch is dedicated to the Father of the Church. This arch was made between 1362 and 1402 by Lombard masters, who decorated it with many statues and carved figures. Outside the Church a memorial tablet shows the lines Dante (1265-1321, one of the most prestigious Italian poets) wrote about San Pietro in Ciel dOro on the famous philosopher Severino Boezios burial.
